What's the difference between Own It and the Managed Plan?
Ownership. With Own It, you pay a one-time flat rate ($1,500–$3,000), we hand over every file at launch, and you can host the site anywhere with no ongoing obligation to us. With the Managed Plan, you pay a small setup fee ($300–$500) plus $150–$300/month, and we design, host, maintain, and update the site for you. The trade-off: on the Managed Plan you don't receive the website files — the site stays live for as long as you subscribe. Lower cost upfront and nothing to manage, but you're renting the site rather than owning it.
What happens if I cancel the Managed Plan?
You can cancel anytime, and billing stops at the end of your current period. When it does, the site comes offline, and the files and code stay with us — that's the trade-off for the low upfront cost, and we'd rather you know it going in. Your domain name is yours if it's registered in your name, so you can point it at a new site whenever you like. If you think you'll want to own your site outright someday, start with Own It, or reach out about switching plans and we'll figure it out together.
Why does a custom website cost $1,500–$3,000?
Because it's genuinely custom, designed and built from scratch for your specific business, not a template with your name swapped in. You're paying for real work that results in a faster, better site that you fully own. Compared to agencies that charge $8,000–$20,000+ for the same thing, $1,500–$3,000 is competitive for the quality you get. And if the upfront number is the hurdle, the Managed Plan gets you the same custom quality for a $300–$500 setup fee and a monthly rate instead.
Do I have to pay a monthly fee?
Only if you choose a plan with one. Own It has no required monthly fee: take the files and host them wherever you like. If you own your site but want us to handle the upkeep, the optional Hosting & Care add-on runs $20–30/month, and you can cancel anytime and keep your files. The Managed Plan is monthly by design — that's what keeps the upfront cost low.
Can you host a website you didn't build?
Yes. If you already have a website you're happy with, hand us the files and we'll host and maintain it for $20–30/month — same Hosting & Care service, no redesign required. That goes for sites we built, too: buy your site from us with the flat rate and you can host it with us, host it anywhere else, or move between the two whenever you like. Since you own the files, nothing locks you in.
What's the difference between a redesign and a new build?
A redesign starts from your existing site: we keep your content and branding but rebuild it from scratch with a modern design that works on every phone, faster load times, and cleaner code underneath. Because we have something to build off of, redesigns usually land toward the lower end of the $1,500–$3,000 range. A new build is a fresh website designed from the ground up. Not sure which you need? What if I need more than 5 pages?
We can add more pages. Just reach out and we'll quote the extra pages individually based on how complex they are. Usually it's a reasonable flat rate per additional page.
Will my site work on phones?
Yes, always. Working on phones is non-negotiable, and every site we build is tested on phones, tablets, and desktops before it ships. You can even see how responsive design works on our Learn page.
How long does it take?
Most projects are done in 1–3 weeks depending on scope and how quickly you can provide content (logo, text, photos). We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront, with no vague "6–8 week" estimates.
Can I see examples of your work first?
